and breech or posterior presentation

to name a few.

Acupuncture for labour encouragement and preparation can be started at 36 to 37 weeks of pregnancy

It consists of weekly sessions until you go into labour. Acupuncture points used during the treatment are changed to reflect each week that passes as you get closer to your due date.

*Please note you can start treatment at any time of your pregnancy. Even if you are past 36/37 weeks. We see many women at 39 or 40 weeks and post-dates women.

Traditional Chinese medicine can also assist in the recovery period after having a baby. See our blog post about postnatal care for more details.

How can acupuncture and moxa help encourage a breech baby into a better position?

Traditionally in China, moxibustion (or ‘moxa’) was used to help turn a breech baby, and after your acupuncture session Jacinda will show you how to do this therapy yourself at home. You will get moxa sticks and an information sheet to take home. Moxibustion is an external treatment, using the application of warmth from the moxa stick onto a specific point on your little toe.

Modern research has investigated the effectiveness of moxa for breech presentation. Find a 2013 study by Vas et al. here

Jacinda’s combined doula experience and Chinese medicine knowledge ensures you receive far more superior informative pregnancy care, which many acupuncturists simply can’t offer.
